Case Reports
The cases reported were encountered by the Respiratory Service at St. Boniface General Hospital over an approximate 3-year period. St. Boniface General Hospital is one of the university-affiliated hospitals that provides tertiary care for renal patients in the Province of Manitoba.
Discussion
The classification of pulmonary vasculitides into specific categories is often difficult because of the lack of precise criteria. Because of this difficulty, consensus guidelines have been developed in order to gather data and to develop treatment strategies. At the Chapel Hill Consensus Conference, MPA was defined as necrotizing vasculitis of small vessels (ie, capillaries, venules, or arterioles), with few or no immune deposits, while a necrotizing arteritis that involves medium-sized

2018, Respiratory Medicine Case ReportsCitation Excerpt :A clinical diagnosis of microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) developed in 25% of those patients with a positive MPO-ANCA [8]. ILD was sometimes the initial manifestation of MPA [13]. In the differential diagnosis of this case, IPF, CPFE, and potential development of AAV, several choices were considered for treatment, including smoking cessation, lung transplant, anti-fibrotic medication, or immunosuppressant administration.
Interstital lung disease in ANCA vasculitis
2017, Autoimmunity ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Additional references quoted in these publications were checked. Data of > 200 patients included in case series [13–27] and case reports [28–42] constitute the basis of this review. Interstitial lung disease associated with ANCA is usually observed in patients older than 65 years old.
