2020, AquacultureCitation Excerpt :Early response pro-inflammatory cytokine mediates immune regulation by interleukin-1 (IL-1) in both adaptive and innate immunity. Each of activated macrophages, monocytes, endothelial cells, lymphocytes, granulocytes, activated T and many other cell types could cause the secretion of IL-1 (Sigel et al., 1986; Roux-Lombard et al., 1989). Interleukin-1β has a humoral immune reaction, and it has been recognized in several teleost fish species, including rainbow trout, yellowfin sea bream, sea bass, carp, and channel catfish (Zou et al., 1999; Fujiki et al., 2000; Scapigliati et al., 2001; Wang et al., 2006; Jiang et al., 2008).
A critical role of interleukin-1 in preterm labor
2016, Cytokine and Growth Factor ReviewsCitation Excerpt :Two structural variants have been identified: a secreted glycosylated form (sIL-1Ra) and an intracellular form (icIL-1Ra) [39,56]. IL-1Ra is secreted by most cell types including myeloid and lymphoid cells [57–61]. A 100 fold or greater excess in IL-1Ra over IL-1 is required to prevent IL-1R1 activation [62].

2011, Progress in Neuro-Psychopharmacology and Biological PsychiatryCitation Excerpt :Second, two other indicators of IL-1β production are neither included in the meta-analysis nor discussed, i.e. measurements of the stimulated production of IL-1β and serum IL-1 receptor antagonist (IL-1RA). The latter is produced and released from activated monocytes/macrophages (Roux-Lombard et al., 1989). The activation cascade from activated T lymphocytes to monocytes/macrophages involves secretion of IL-1 and the IL-1RA (Dayer and Burger, 1994).
