2021, Archives of Biochemistry and BiophysicsCitation Excerpt :Historical evidence have shown that calcitonin gene-related peptide (CGRP), a 37-amino acid peptide, might be an important molecule that link the nervous, immune and skeletal systems [19]. On the one hand, CGRP-positive nerve fibers are widely distributed in bone tissue, especially in the metabolic active areas [20]. Mice lacking CGRP displayed significant bone defects and low bone mass [21–23].
