SP0026 The Basics of A Regression Analysis
  1. S. Norton

Abstract

The aim of this presentation is to provide a brief introduction to the basics of the regression model. This model provides the foundation of modern statistical modelling and allows us to assess whether a variable, or range of variables, is associated with an outcome variable. Extrapolating from the model we can develop predictions about the level of an outcome variable, such as disease outcome, based on the values of predictive variables. The underlying equation, meaning of key terms and basic diagnostics to determine the robustness of inference from a regression model will be explained.
