The European Crohn's and Colitis Organisation (ECCO) is an association that aims to improve the care of patients with inflammatory bowel disease through education, research and collaboration. ECCO was founded in 2001 and has been rapidly growing over the past years. The last ECCO congress had almost 7000 attendees. The operational board of ECCO consists of the chairs of the different ECCO committees. Among these ECCO committees is Young-ECCO (Y-ECCO), which was founded in 2007 as a platform for young IBD physicians and scientists that are below 35 years of age or still in training, in order to promote friendship and collaboration between them. Y-ECCO has initiated numerous activities within ECCO (for example, a workshop on career development, literature reviews, a basic science workshop, …) and closely collaborates with the other ECCO committees to fulfill the mission of ECCO.
