An incorrect version of this article was published in the March 2013 issue. This has since been replaced with the correct version. In the ‘Results’ section of the Abstract the following sentence is incorrect: ‘High birth weight (>4000 g) and preconception paternal smoking were independently associated with RA.’ The correct sentence is: ‘Low birth weight (<2500 g) and preconception paternal smoking were independently associated with RA.’ We apologise for this error.
