Statistics from

Medical Editors Trial Amnesty Reports of properly conducted randomised controlled trials are the foundation of safe and effective health care but many go unreported for various reasons. The editors of nearly 100 international medical journals have joined together, therefore, to call an unreported trial amnesty. All investigators with unreported trial data are urged to register their trial or trials. This can be done by filling in and returning an unreported trial registration form (available from the editorial offfices of Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases). The information will be made available by listing the trial details on a web site and in other appropriate ways. (An editorial on this subject has appeared in the BMJ 1997;315:622.)
