Increased frequency of HLA-Cw3 and HLA-Dw4 in rheumatoid arthritis

Arthritis Rheum. 1977 Jun;20(5):1037-42. doi: 10.1002/art.1780200501.

Abstract

Thirty-nine patients with rheumatoid arthritis were HLA typed for the full range of A and B locus specificities and for Cw3 and Dw4. HLA-Dw4 was significantly more frequent in patients (36%) than in controls (13%). The frequency of Cw3 was also increased, probably because this allele is in linkage disequilibrium with Dw4.
