Pharmacology of raynaud's phenomenon
2014, TherapieNeoplastic and paraneoplastic vasculitis, vasculopathy, and hypercoagulability
2011, Rheumatic Disease Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :However, subsequent reported cases were deemed paraneoplastic,72,78 rather than neoplastic, in nature. Determining whether Raynaud's is paraneoplastic or even neoplastic in nature is clouded by the prevalence of idiopathic78 and chemotherapy-induced Raynaud's,79–81 leaving some to suggest that Raynaud's does not exist as a paraneoplastic phenomenon. Allen and colleagues71 compared the characteristics of paraneoplastic Raynaud's with that secondary to chemotherapy and connective tissue diseases and found that paraneoplastic Raynaud's tended to occur in older patients (>50 years), was evenly distributed among men and women, was asymmetric, and progressed much more rapidly to ischemic ulcers and necrosis than the other secondary Raynaud's.
