Interestingly, long term use of DEX in inflammatory arthritis has been associated with painful side effects especially on synovial membrane [41]. Thus, eugenol, a natural phenolic compound could be beneficial in ameliorating these observed side effects implicated on this corticoid since both showed similar effects against inflammatory arthritis.
