Significance of polymethylmethacrylate (PMMA) modification by zinc oxide nanoparticles for fungal biofilm formation
2016, International Journal of PharmaceuticsCitation Excerpt :It is worth mentioning that older people very often suffer from systemic diseases and have to take a significant number of medications. It has been shown that more than 400 of these may lead to reduced saliva secretion (Zelickson and Rogers, 1986) and the denture base can play an important role in the development of denture stomatitis inflammation of the mucous membrane induced by prosthetic appliances (Fig. 1). PMMA material of which the removable dentures are made, offer numerous advantages, such as acceptable mechanical properties or ease of processing (possibility of adding and machining the material).
Oral lichenoid drug reaction with autoantibodies in peripheral blood: Case report
2011, Oral Science InternationalCitation Excerpt :The development of oral lichen planus (OLP) is mainly idiopathic, but some cases associated with developmental factors, such as contact antigens of dental metals, hepatitis C virus infection [1,2] drugs, stress, and cigarette smoking, have been reported, suggesting an immunological mechanism [3] Many cases of lichen planus-type drug reactions are caused by drugs used in the psychiatric field [4], and it is not uncommon for the oral mucosa to be affected [5].
