PET is both technically complex and costly [72,73]. A number of other imaging techniques may provide additional information on metabolic and functional disturbances in patients with NPSLE, including magnetic resonance angiography, magnetic resonance spectroscopy, magnetization transfer imaging, determination of the magnetization transfer ratio, and diffusion-weighted imaging.
