2021, Gastroenterology Clinics of North AmericaCitation Excerpt :Dysphagia is reported in 2% to 25% of patients, and associated reflux symptoms and noncardiac chest pain may be prominent.97–99 In many ways, SLE mimics other conditions and can overlap in phenotype with SSc, myositis, and SS.100,101 Diagnostic testing is generally nonspecific and often normal.102,103

2018, Autoimmunity ReviewsCitation Excerpt :One study demonstrated an inverse correlation between 24-hour proteinuria and the presence of abnormal morphology (i.e. “meandering capillaries”) (p < 0.016) [41]. One study demonstrated an association between anti-SSA antibodies and lower density of capillaries (p < 0.05) [18] and another study demonstrated a trend for fewer capillaries (but no statistical significance) [16]. There was no significant correlation between lupus anticoagulant, complement activity, leukocyte or thrombocyte counts and capillaroscopic alterations [16,19,35,47,48].
