  • Inverse relationship between the ratio of ICAM-1 expressing lymphocytes and serum TGF-β1 concentrations in acute rheumatic fever

    2005, Journal of Autoimmunity
    Citation Excerpt :

It has been shown that various molecules in different cells have an impact on apoptosis under experimental conditions. Among these, dexamethasone, IL-2 and cycloheximide are known to induce apoptosis while TGF-β1, IL-4, IL-13, IL-l0, γ-interferon, CD40, LFA-1, ICAM-I, VLA-4 and VCAM-I are known to have inhibitory effects [37]. In this study, ICAM-1 ratio has been in positive correlation with CD8+CD95+ lymphocyte ratio in patients in remission.
