Like in Plato's Cave Allegory, leaving the comfort zone by crossing borders can broaden your horizon in diversified ways. It is an opportunity to gain technical and intellectual skills, get insight into different areas, address research questions from different perspectives and establish ongoing and future collaborations. In this presentation the personal experience of performing research in the US will be presented. Two years ago I left Austria to undergo a postdoctoral research fellowship at the Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School in Boston and I will present ups and downs of working as a researcher at a world-leading University.Disclosure of Interest None declared ER -
