New onset inflammatory sounding joint pain (or clinically suspect arthralgia) and new onset inflammatory arthritis are both common. In some cases patients develop rheumatoid arthritis (RA) and in others symptoms and signs resolve spontaneously. This WIN session will highlight important recent developments in the areas of (a) disease mechanisms, (b) outcome prediction, (c) care pathways and (d) therapeutic approaches, for patients with, or at risk of, new onset synovial swelling.
