The Paediatric Rheumatology European Society (PRES) is a European scientific society for healthcare professionals in the field of paediatric rheumatology. The societies missions are to promote knowledge of paediatric rheumatic diseases, stimulate research in this field, disseminate knowledge through scientific meetings and publications, provide guidelines and standards for good clinical practice. Importantly PRES provides guidelines and standards for the training of doctors and allied health professionals in the practice of paediatric rheumatology. As the young/trainee representative on the PRES council I am involved in representing the views of trainees at council meetings. PRES holds a scientific congress each year which is preceded by an annual Young Investigators Meeting (YIM), which I organize along with a local trainee(s). This is a very popular meeting which is increasing in size and currently brings together approximately 150 young investigators (clinicians and scientists) from across Europe but also America, Australia, India, Africa. It is a good opportunity for young investigators to have their first international presentation and network with senior faculty to discuss and develop research ideas. As the trainee representative I am also involved in organising and promoting PRES funded training courses and gaining opinion from trainees about the type or course they would like. PRES plans to run summer/winter schools on certain conditions in the near future. I have recently assisted the PRES Education and Training Committee in updating the European Paediatric Rheumatology syllabus which will be launched in summer 2016.
