The last year has seen significant advances across a range of areas in the evaluation and treatment of early arthritis. In this review I will consider the key advances made in the last 12 months concerning understanding of the pathogenesis of early arthritis, management studies that inform clinical practice and finally the impact that such interventions may have on outcomes for patients.
