The Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases becomes the EULAR journal

EULAR (European League against Rheumatism), the umbrella organisation of the European professional societies dealing with rheumatic diseases has undergone many changes in the past years. This was necessary as Europe has changed and the practice of medicine has evolved. Medicine now needs to be evidence-based, continuing education is becoming obligatory and has to be proven, postgraduate education is being standardised, to give a few examples. EULAR had thus to assume new activities to guide and to coordinate all these activities within Europe. Communication among its societies and their members is thus very important. An official scientific journal will improve interactions and will stimulate its readers. It must have a wide distribution, a large reputation and to be in the lingua franca of today, namely English. EULAR has been very fortunate to be able to join the Annals of the Rheumatic Diseases, the oldest European rheumatology journal in English that . . . [Full text of this article]
